It might seem a bit out of place, but it is a fact that there are folks in the United States of America who cross their lines between autism and Tourette s syndrome. But why? The latter is a neurological disorder that involves or causes body movements and vocal outbursts that are not ordered. On the contrary, autism is a different kind of disorder altogether. One that affects the social behavioral, and emotional development of a child.
Several genetic disorders have symptoms that parallel or even surpass autism in occurrence and prognosis. One such is the Lesch-Nyhan syndrome, another is the fragile X syndrome, and a third is Cornelia de Lange syndrome. These are chiefly different than autism because they usually involve the child hurting themselves. Whereas this is something that you might find in autism, it is not altogether an MO.
There are lots of researches going on all the time into possible cures for the syndrome known as autism. The main problem though is that its cause has not been discovered. Personally, understanding how you get to cure a disease by using strains of the disease itself, I am not too optimistic about a cure being found without a cause. However, I do feel that someone will get a stroke of genius someday, and we could all kiss autism goodbye for good.
There is need for better understanding of the autism strain in little children if we are to hope for a cure someday. This is the primary reason behind the millions of dollars that are spent on research, care and study of the syndrome and its symptoms in the United States each year. All over the world, others also join forces to see to it that fewer children get to suffer this debilitating set of symptoms.
